On the California Coast

Afer three days of camping at South Beach on the Oregon Coast, we have made it to Eureka in Northern California!  Again, a fabulous drive on the Pacific Ocean Coast and a nice surprise though miles of red woods!  Now nice and warm in a Super 8 Motel room here in a very strange area of the Pacific Coast,  Misty and cool.  Off to camping again tomorrow in the Redwood forest just a couple of hours south of here and then off to Half Moon Bay to camp for a couple of nights.  Then LA!  It has been CHILLY!  We are nice and warm in our new Wal Mart sleeping bags but this was unexpected.  The fresh seafood has made up for the cold though.  Had great clam chowder in Newport where we were camping and bought a fresh chinook salmon to cook at our campsite.  Both were wonderful.  Just had fresh red snapper here in town and now will finally have a shower.  I now as you can see can get on my blog but still am having problems downloading some great pics!  Jen, if you can give me the instructions again that would help. I am sure once we are in LA Dan might now what to do.  Hope all is well back home.

Happy in Oregon

Happy Anniversary to us!  Yesterday was our 15th!  Had a wonderful day driving from Boise Idaho to Salem Oregon.  Long again but the most spectacular scenery ever!  In a best western and out to have a fabulous dinner last night.  Today we are off to the coast!  Camping at South Beach State Park Oregon.  Can't wait.  Short drive.

HOT! In South Dakota

13 hours of driving in the hot sun today.  Now in the Super 8 motel in Souix Falls!  Thank God again that we decided to book motel rooms for the first two nights.  We had another non eventful drive even though we went through Chicago this morning.  Had a great ride through Minnisota!  Beautiful green farmland and highway.  I have seen enough corn, soybeans and wind farms to last me a lifetime!  Tomorrow we arrive in Custard State Park near Mt Rushmore.  It is going to be 97 degrees tomorrow!  Hottest day yet but by Thursday it is suppose to be 85.  It will be very challenging to set up camp.  I'm sure we will survive.  If you don't hear from us, then we don't have wi fi in the park.  We will visit Wal Mart tomorrow morning to buy cell phones. Then I can call home to see how Azreal is!  Gerry has been a dream to travel with.  He might say different about me!!

Made it to Kalamazoo Michigan!  It is very good that we have booked our hotel rooms for the next couple of nights at Best Westerns!  We would not have been able to stand the heat! Hot hot hot! Resting now and our on our way to Sioux Falls in South Dakota tomorrow.  Our longest drive!  Good thing we have air conditioning!

Retirement has begun!

I am now officially retired!  Two more days till we leave!
